South Asian American Digital Archive

Updated 12/17/2019

Mission
SAADA creates a more inclusive society by giving voice to South Asian Americans through documenting, preserving, and sharing stories that represent their unique and diverse experiences.

Vision
We envision American and world histories that fully acknowledge the importance of immigrants and ethnic communities in the past, strengthen such communities in the present, and inspire discussion about their role in the future.
We believe that strong archives are vital to community wellbeing and that archives can be dynamic spaces for dialogue and debate. There is no dust in SAADA!

SAADA runs theĀ Tides magazine, the Road Trips project, First Days project, Revolution Remix walking tour, community and archival events.

Healthy NewsWorks

Updated 10/25/2019

Healthy NewsWorks promotes the accessibility of health awareness and information through educating young students as journalists for the community. Elementary and middle school students who participate in the programs offered are uniquely empowered to create effective change not just within their own lives, but in the lives of those who read the journals published by Healthy NewsWorks. Youth learn important skills in writing, reporting, interviewing, and critical thinking, while simultaneously educating themselves about healthy living.

There is a multitude of volunteer roles available at HealthyNewsWorks, some of which are more geared toward direct teaching experiences, such as assisting educators in the classroom and mentoring students as they navigating learning about journalism. For more information, check out the volunteer page at http://healthynewsworks.org/volunteer/
